GPUG/AXUG Summit 2014, that’s what!

Last week, some of Metafile’s MetaViewer team met up with more than 900 Dynamics Communities members for four days of networking, product showcasing and fun at America’s Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, Mo. The team consisted of regional managers Doug Bertram, Bob Hawley and Jon Sprau, as well as business analyst Tom Ress and solutions engineer Shane Robinson.

Upon arriving in St. Louis with the historic arch towering overhead, Microsoft Dynamics gurus with their conference badges appeared to take over the downtown area. The sheer number of conference participants, including users, vendors and sponsors, was made clear on Tuesday night as the Expo doors swung open. As the welcoming committee did the wave, waved flags, held up signs and blew noise-makers, sponsors marched in and took their places at their respective booths.

Ready to network, demo and showcase MetaViewer, Metafile’s Paperless ERP and document management solution, the Metafile team booted up their computers, got out the swag and pooled their collective knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics. Microsoft Dynamics users looking for their next document management solution stopped by the booth, giving our team a chance to address user questions, comments and concerns about how best to go paperless in their office using their current ERP systems.photo 2 - Copy

“It was nice to hear real concerns and comments from actual users,” Robinson said.

Robinson also enjoyed networking and building relationships with people at GPUG Summit where he had the opportunity to connect with future prospects, as well as current clients.

In addition to the Expo, the MetaViewer team also participated in a variety of educational sessions to give both AXUG and GPUG Summit members an inside look at how MetaViewer works and the benefits it offers.

To kick off MetaViewer’s time in the spotlight, Bertram stood on stage on Wednesday with representatives from Fastpath and Rockton Software as a premier GPUG sponsor.

Bertram then presented to Microsoft Dynamics AX and GP users in sessions entitled, “Tear Through the Paper Trap, Pitch the Paperclips and Move to Paperless ERP” where he demonstrated the MetaViewer solution. Bertram also gave a presentation to Microsoft Dynamics GP users about going beyond AP automation and taking their document management system to the next level.

“Doug’s demo sessions generated the best leads and interest,” Sprau said.

Bertram’s sessions attracted a host of conference participants looking to take their companies paperless.

On the business analysis side, Ress found going to the classes and seminars that the Summit offered to be extremely beneficial.

“I found GPUG classes and seminars to be a way to see what is currently being used and what will be coming in the future of GP,” Ress said. “Being a vendor that needs to work hand-in-hand with the GP software, it was useful to find ways we can make our product better in the way that it interacts with GP.”

The education that Ress and other analysts received from the sessions will help them make the software implementation process smoother and faster for clients.

“GPUG went further than just selling GP, by also informing end users, GP partners and third-party vendors of what to expect when implementing any major software package and how best to plan, implement and roll this new product out to the end users,” Ress said.

As Microsoft Dynamics announces plans to debut GP 2015 on Dec. 1, users, sponsors and vendors are excited to see what it has in store for the Dynamics community. Metafile will likely be there to reflect on it at next year’s GPUG Summit in Reno, Nev.

Thank you, GPUG, for a great conference! Until next year!
