Increasing Efficiency with Enterprise Mobility

Every company wants to be more efficient, but not every business understands how to achieve those results. Technology is one way to get there, especially mobile technology. Read on to learn more about how enterprise mobility helps firms realize efficiency gains, and how you can benefit from its deployment.

Employees Can Work from Anywhere

When many business leaders think of mobility, they associate it most strongly with the flexibility to work from anywhere, especially from home or on vacation. Those aren’t the only two locations that allow employees to be more productive, though.

Mobile technologies enable staff in the field, such as salespeople, to access and transmit vitally important information to make the right decisions in real time. For example, a pharmaceutical sales rep trying to close a deal with a doctor can simply pull up relevant information on his or her tablet to convince the physician that the drug or device in question will save patients’ lives. He or she no longer has to wait to go back to the office and look up the necessary data, giving the doctor time for second thoughts.

Collaboration Takes Place Faster

Along the same lines, mobile technology enables collaboration to take place in real time, too. This saves companies money and countless hours of lost productivity.

Let’s say a team is working on a project. Some of the members are located offsite. With mobile devices and collaboration applications, they can share information with each other quickly and easily. No one needs to wait for meetings in order to get status updates – everyone shares what they’re working on through a collaboration app. The team completes the project on time and under budget, thanks to their ability to collaborate using mobile technologies.

Reducing Paperwork Saves Time and Money

Mobile technology has also reduced the need to complete paperwork. Instead, employees can fill out an online form. The online form serves the same function as a hard copy, only it takes less time to complete.

How does this work in practice? We’ll take the manufacturing industry as an example. A factory foreman realizes a piece of equipment requires maintenance. He or she contacts the technician. After making the necessary repairs, the technician logs them into an app. It takes a few clicks to save the repair report. If the factory was still using paper to log repairs, it could have taken 15 to 20 minutes to file the same report.

Customer Service Becomes Faster

Happy customers mean repeat business. Mobile technologies enable customer service representatives to satisfy customers faster.

Many customers use their mobile devices to contact companies for help using a product or service, or simply to make a comment. An app and/or a well-designed mobile website make it easier for them to get the information they need. In addition, they can chat with customer service representatives online from their mobile device, allowing the company to provide service on the customer’s terms. Customers who feel as though a firm meets their needs will be more likely to come back.
