SSRS: rsErrorInOnInit error

I came across the following error when trying to print a report in Dynamics AX 2012:

Error while setting server report parameters. Error message: An error occurred while executing OnInit: The report execution failed to start. Verify that Report Extensions have been installed or are configured correctly.
Please consult your administrator or the documentation. (rsErrorInOnInit)

An error occurred while executing OnInit: The report execution failed to start. Verify that Report Extensions have been installed or are configured correctly.
Please consult your administrator or the documentation. (rsErrorInOnInit)

I was installing multiple SSRS instances on one server, other instances were working but this particular instance was not.

If you have multiple SSRS instances installed on one server, you have to make sure that the configuration files for all instances are modified correctly.
To solve the above errors, I performed the steps as describe here for the instance that wasn’t working: Modify Reporting Services configuration files [AX 2012]

Mobile Apps and the Finance Department: Boosting Productivity

$

0

Mobile apps have revolutionized the way that modern employees work. They offer a number of benefits. Finance departments of companies have been affected by this revolution as well. One of the ways in which mobile apps have helped finance departments is to boost the productivity of its employees. Read on to learn how mobile apps can make your finance department more productive.

Running at the Speed of Business

The quarterly report is due tomorrow. There’s still information finance department staff need to finish it. Instead of wasting time running all over the building or calling people in other offices, all they need to do is open up an app on their tablet and check a few figures.

Productivity refers to the rate of output per unit. When the finance department can complete tasks faster, it becomes more productive.

Working Smarter, Not Harder

Expense reports are due at the end of the month. Many employees find it a pain to submit them – who can keep track of all of those receipts?

A mobile app can make expense reports easier to fill out and faster to send to the finance department. There are a number of mobile apps on the market that allow users to simply take a picture of their receipts. The image is submitted to the finance department as part of the employee’s expense report for that month. Instead of an irritating, time-consuming process, expense reporting is simpler for everyone involved. Moreover, it frees up the finance department from having to chase down employees and remind them to submit these reports. And that means that finance department staff has more time to devote to their work.

Streamlining the Process

How many spreadsheets does your finance department use to keep track of various figures and important details? If the answer is, “More than one,” mobile apps can streamline that team’s processes and make it more productive.

With a mobile app, employees only need to enter data in one place, one time. And they only need to look at one dashboard to find relevant information quickly.

A streamlined process boosts productivity because, as with the previous example, the finance staff has more time to work on tasks that are important, instead of wasting time trying to find vital data.

Characteristics of a Productivity-Boosting App

Of course, not all mobile apps are created equal. So, not all of them will boost productivity. In fact, if they’re not designed well, they could actually lower this metric.

Productivity-boosting apps are user friendly. It’s simple to navigate them and perform the tasks you need. The user doesn’t waste time trying to figure out how to enter or find data; utilizing the app is an intuitive process.

The app also works on a number of devices and platforms. In today’s enterprise, no one uses just one type of device, and the days of a single operating system have long since passed. The more people that can use the app will boost productivity levels.

4 Ways Microsoft Dynamics Professionals Can Impress a Retail Hiring Manager

Microsoft Dynamics AX retail

Retail continues to be a popular vertical within the Microsoft Dynamics jobs market and it’s the area that Microsoft is investing in more than any other. As more retailers adopt Microsoft Dynamics, the competition for skills amongst leading brands is increasing dramatically and therefore the quality of professionals required is also on the rise.Close-up of young woman carrying shopping bags while walking along the street

From our experience of dealing with retail organisations, we’ve noticed they value the following traits when making critical programme hires– so if you can show evidence of these during the application process, you’ll enhance your chances of landing a job on the top Dynamics AX retail projects.

  1. Be a good ERP all-rounder

You don’t necessarily need years of Microsoft Dynamics AX or consulting experience – especially with the introduction of Microsoft 365 which will see CRM and AX coming together in the cloud. It’s not the most tech or functionally savvy Microsoft Dynamics professionals that hiring managers look for, but people who understand how Microsoft Dynamics will impact on a retail business, have a good mix of skills and aren’t pigeonholed into one area. It’s the partner’s job to provide specialist knowledge but internal talent needs to have a more rounded approach.

  1. Have interpersonal skills and a willingness to get involved

AX retail implementations tend to be smaller so strong interpersonal skills and an ability to integrate and communicate with colleagues of all levels is even more important. In smaller retail programmes especially, consultancy work internally won’t necessarily be separated into “technical” or “functional” because the environment will require them to get involved in all aspects of the program. If you have a lack of pretence about getting involved with everything, you will succeed and also broaden your experience for future Dynamics AX projects.

  1. Be experienced within retail

There will always be a demand for specialist knowledge of AX retail modules such as buying and merchandising, stock and warehousing. Wider retail experience, such as understanding how the functions of the business work and how the ERP system impacts that, is also very valuable to hiring managers. In particular, we have found that people who’ve worked with companies like Forex and Monetise tend to do very well because of the wide exposure they’ve had to ERP implementations. Having an awareness of business change is also important – as one Dynamics AX Retail Project Manager says: “Typically these projects will be major change projects affecting most areas of a retail organisation so a great understanding of managing business change is key”.

  1. Have brand awareness

Showing an awareness and appreciation of the brand is important during the application process. Small retailers value what people know about them and how passionate they are about working for the brand. If you don’t know much about the business, explore their website and social media channels, and get into a store if you can, to get a feel for their brand.

Every organisation is different but in the retailers we work with, we’ve noticed that they value at least two of these traits. Well-recognised retail brands will not just hire people on the basis of how much Microsoft Dynamics AX experience they have but ultimately value a wider retail business understanding and a team-playing attitude.

Below are the list of issues that has been fixed in this new version:

IDMF – Support with SQL Server 2016

IDMF – Revert and Restore Archive deletes in one transaction : Revert and restore operations do not delete data in archive database deletions in batches but as a single transaction. The solution is to implement batch size functionality and introduce transaction level deletion.

IDMF: Timeout exception when deleting the data from archive table: This issue must be caused by Command Timeout being set to default.

IDMF – Restore archive data job for large number of records is not restoring all records as expected

Time field on SSRS shows time format Report Dynamics Ax 2012

Today is another small tip,

I was developing a custom report. Queried table stored the date and time in separate fields ie. Transdate and transtime. On  mapping the transtime to report, its showed time format. Instead of time value.

2016-10-28_19-18-27

For it solution, I added the string field on report temp table and then convert the time with time2str function and map to the field.

Complete statement is below.

TableTmp.StransTime  = time2Str(_Trans.transTime, TimeSeparator::Colon, TimeFormat::AMPM);

As result, report will display the trans time instead of its format.

I was developing the report by adding UI Class and building the drop down list to select multiple customer.

When I try to bind, DataSet of SSRS report to data provider class, it shows following error.

RegisterOverrideMethod was called twice for the same object for method ‘textChange’. You can only override a method once per instance.

error

On Exploring I found that I used the Same dialog field in two lookup methods.

SysLookupMultiSelectCtrl::constructWithQuery(this.dialog().dialogForm().formRun(), dlgCustAccount.control(), query, false, selectedFields);
